Houston has one of the most established Turkmen communities in the United States, with a community foundation running programs that cover most of what a newly arrived family needs. Here is what our community runs here.

Where the community lives

Turkmen families in the Houston area live mainly in the southwest suburbs — Stafford, Sugar Land, Missouri City and Katy — with more in Pearland and along the Westheimer corridor. Southwest Houston has long been the landing point for Central Asian and Middle Eastern families, and halal groceries and mosques are easy to find there.

Nearby cities

Dallas–Fort Worth is four hours north, Austin under three and San Antonio about three. Businesses listed in one Texas metro will often travel to the others.
